Mount Vernon Families: Due to utility work on the Lester Buresh Family Community Wellness Center project, the sidewalk on 10th Avenue running from Palisades Road to the school campus is temporarily closed to pedestrian traffic. This is a temporary closure, with the sidewalk being open again in about a week. Additionally, due to this work there are several pieces of heavy equipment that may temporarily block one lane of traffic as you move through the interchange at 10th Avenue and Palisades Road. Please be careful and remind your children who drive to be careful when moving through that area. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to the day when the Lester Buresh Family Community Wellness Center will be open to the community!
Sign up for MS boys basketball Concessions. Please consider helping out! It's fun and the money raised is used by P.R.I.D.E to support the school. Plus, the kids and fans like having drinks, candy and popcorn!

Other information below kept on for reference
Accessing the Document Vault in Power School: To find the grade reports document in Power School, log in as usual. On the lower left side of the opening screen is a link called "Document Vault", which you should click. You will be able to download and view or print your child's report card. If you do not know your Powerschool password, please contact: Patty Mote at the Middle School to reset it. 895-6264.
NOTE: Current physicals AND Concussion forms must be on file with the MS office prior to practicing. A new concussion form is needed each school year and good for the school year.
Sports Physicals: If your child will be participating in Middle School sports (7th & 8th graders) please make sure they have a current Physical and Heads up Concussion form on file with the school. Physicals and Concussion forms are required before a student can start practice. Fall sports (Cross Country, Football and Volleyball) start within the first week of school. Physicals are good for a year past the date of the exam. Click here for a physical form and here for a concussion form. If your child hasn't had a sports physical and will need one, summer is a great time to get that done!
The Mount Vernon School District has partnered with Tanager Place of Cedar Rapids to help support our students. Seeking support can be a challenging process and Mount Vernon School District believes this is a great opportunity for families to utilize within the walls of our schools. Please contact Jennifer Tischer, our school counselor or Linda See, our school nurse for more information. If you would prefer, you can also contact Kristin Cannon directly at email@example.com

Activity Passes or cash are needed to get into all Middle school and high school athletic events. State sponsored post-regular season athletic events (i.e. playoff/tournament games) always require payment for admittance for ALL students. Students with cell phones are encouraged to take a picture of their activity pass, that way they will most likely always have it handy. All students without activity passes will need to pay cash at the gate of sporting events. Reminder: Activity passes are not accepted during post season games.
