Mt. Vernon middle school students will perform Animal Facts by Amy White on Friday, May 24 at 7 PM and Saturday, May 25 at 1 PM in the Mt. Vernon District Auditorium. The play, which has been produced by Mt. Vernon-Lisbon Community Theatre and the Grinnell Arts Center, is made up of ten short pieces about different animals and how their behavior is related to that of humans. Grant Freeman, a speech coach at MVHS, is directing. Admission is free but donations to Open Arenas Productions will be accepted.
Attendance reminder: While we realize that your child may need to be gone during the school day for various reasons, it is very important for them to be in school as much as possible. It is also important that the school is contacted whenever your child will not be attending school for all or part of the day. Whether it be an illness, doctor appointment, or some other reason, please remember to contact the school. You can always leave a voicemail at 319.895.6254 at anytime during the day, night or weekend. Please try to notify us by 8:30am if your child will be absent or leaving during the school day. If you prefer to send an email, please send it to both Patty Mote and Chiara Burke with the date and time frame your child will be absent, leaving or returning during the school day. Sending the email to both of us will ensure that your email is received in a timely manner if one of us is not available on any given day. Thank you.

MS 5K is now on Monday, June 3rd. The Mount Vernon Middle School 5K has been a tradition for several years. As a fun and healthy activity we can all enjoy together, MVMS PTO has decided to turn it into our main fundraiser. Students will be given a healthy snack at Success Lab also. Students can come as often as needed and also can leave when they have finished their work.
Other information below kept on for reference

On the lower left side of the opening screen is a link called "Document Vault", which you should click. You will be able to download and view or print your child's report card. NOTE: Current physicals AND Concussion forms must be on file with the MS office prior to practicing. A new concussion form is needed each school year and good for the school year.
Sports Physicals: If your child will be participating in Middle School sports (7th & 8th graders) please make sure they have a current Physical and Heads up Concussion form on file with the school. Physicals and Concussion forms are required before a student can start practice. Fall sports (Cross Country, Football and Volleyball) start within the first week of school. Physicals are good for a year past the date of the exam. Click here for a physical form and here for a concussion form. If your child hasn't had a sports physical and will need one, summer is a great time to get that done!

Activity Passes or cash are needed to get into all Middle school and high school athletic events. State sponsored post-regular season athletic events (i.e. playoff/tournament games) always require payment for admittance for ALL students. Students with cell phones are encouraged to take a picture of their activity pass, that way they will most likely always have it handy. All students without activity passes will need to pay cash at the gate of sporting events. Reminder: Activity passes are not accepted during post season games.
